The Watchtower evidently does not want to give Jehovah His incomprehensibility. The "Witnesses" seem want a god they can fully understand, hence they rule out the Trinity, or the truth that Christ is both God and man. However, the Lord God will not be reduced to human categories or be easily grasped by humans. He is at once transcendent and immanent. Men can know Him, in endless adoration and worshipful delight, yet never exhaustively. There's always more to come with God!
It has been shown in this study that Jesus, called both the Son of Man and Son of God, born of lowly estate as a true but sinless man, is also more than just a man. Here's a summary of what comparing Scripture with Scripture has revealed about Him:
He is the Rock of God's people.
He is the First and the Last.
He is the Creator.
He is the only Savior.
He is the Light of the world and of the New Jerusalem, where God dwells with redeemed mankind forever.
He is the Judge and Shepherd.
He is the Great I AM.
He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
He is the strength of God's people.
He is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient.
He is the Redeemer.
He is unchangeable.
He is the One Who forgives sins.
He is our Prophet, Priest, and King.
What can be said of the Father that cannot be said of the Son? How could the ETERNAL father have ever BECOME such a Father? What would He have been in eternity "before" His only begotten Son was? The Greek term [MONOGENEIS] is used to describe Christ's relationship with the Father, for instance in John 3:16. There it is translated "only begotten" in some Bibles; the word refers to Christ's unique-ness. What does this term [MONOGENEIS] mean if the Son is just a mighty, created angel like Gabriel or Michael? The Father is the eternal Father of an eternal Son; together they possess an Eternal Spirit, cf. Hebrews 9:14...
Yet still, the followers of Watchtower error insist that the Person to Whom all these titles, offices, names and attributes belong is someone other than Jehovah! They do this, again, apparently because the Truth as it is in Jesus is beyond human comprehension. Are not God's eternity, His infinity, His nature as pure spirit (not composed of any material "stuff"), His omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, and perhaps most of all His absolute holiness all way beyond our comprehension as well? Why accept those or some of those truths, if this truth is unacceptable on the grounds that we can't grasp it?
Here are a few more comparisons of Scripture with Scripture:
Jehovah is the Holy One of Israel, says the Psalmist -
Psalm 71:22 - I will also praise Thee with a harp, even Thy truth, O my God; to Thee I will sing praises with the lyre, O Thou Holy One of Israel.
And through Isaiah the prophet, Jehovah comforts His people with this truth:
Isaiah 41:14 - "Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel; I will help you," declares the Lord, "and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
Luke, author of Acts under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, says that Jesus is the Holy One!
Acts 3:14 "But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you..."
In Nehemiah's prayer, he mentions the worship of the Lord by angels -
Nehemiah 9:6 - "Thou alone art the Lord. Thou hast made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them. Thou dost give life to all of them and the heavenly host bows down before Thee.
In Hebrews, we learn that Jesus is so worshipped!
Hebrews 1:6 - And when He again brings the first-born into the world, He says, "And let all the angels of God worship Him."
If Jesus WERE one of the angels, how could ALL the angels of God worship Him?The Watchtower argument that the worship given to Jesus is some lower form of obeisance, etc. withers into absurdity when we read Revelation 4 and 5. There is no difference there between the worship given to the One on the throne and that given to the Lamb...
God indeed says that His people are His witnesses -
Isaiah 43:10,11 - "You are My witnesses," declares the Lord, "and My servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I AM HE. Before Me there was no god formed, and there will be none after Me. I, even I, am the Lord; And there is NO SAVIOR besides Me.
And Who says God's people shall be His witnesses as the glorious gospel goes forth, according to the New Testament?
Acts 1:8 (Christ speaking) - "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
The Lord Jesus Christ is the same One Who spoke through Isaiah, the prophet who saw Him and wrote of His glory! (See John 12:41) Christ is the One Whom Isaiah reminds us is the only Savior, besides Whom there is no smaller, lesser god, vying for Jehovah's sole prerogatives.
Has Jehovah abdicated all His titles, offices, attributes, and names to a created being, as well as given His worship to a creature? Would he allow a creature to usurp His witnesses' testimony to Him?
to quote Isaiah again: Before Me there was no god formed, And there will be none after Me. I, even I, am the Lord; And there is NO SAVIOR besides Me.
What clearer, more emphatic language could God use to express that there are no legitimate under-gods to Him? Yes, there are many so-called "gods" and "lords", but absolutely NONE that are legitimate!
God's true witnesses serve and worship only One God, not a pagan-like assortment of gods of diverse rank.
