The word catholic means "universal". A trans-denominational confession such as the Nicene Creed (c. 325 A.D.) expresses the Divine truths held and taught by the true Church of Jesus Christ in all ages and places. These essential Biblical truths are the "faith once for all delivered to the saints", Jude verse 3.
To deviate from these essential truths is to depart from Christianity. Does the religious body with headquarters in Vatican City, Italy uphold the true faith of the catholic church?
